I’m Going Home Today!
This is an update about my health, as usual, skip it if you’d like, elsewise click the link below, thanks!
So I’m finally going home! I don’t know my numbers exactly but my ANC is above 1000 — this may seem pretty odd that it jumps around so much, but they gave me a shot of neupogen yesterday, which stimulates the bone marrow to produce immune cells, so it’s not entirely surprising. They had given me some shots of that before, and I guess normally they keep it up until a patient hits 500, but for some reason I don’t know they discontinued it a few days before that for me.
Needless to say, I am very excited, especially for mundane things, like not having to wear a mask, and not needing assistance/permission to walk or use the bathroom.
I still have a lot ahead of me, a few more rounds of less harsh chemotherapy called consolidation, and eventually a bone marrow or stem cell transplant (still not clear to me which). But it’ll be really nice to head for at least a few weeks and get real sleep, walk around more regularly, eat more flexibly. Not be confined to a bed most of the time.
Can’t wait, a few more hours!
